Spencer Barker is a dedicated public servant and proud lifelong resident of Licking County, currently serving as Newark’s 5th Ward Councilman. In addition to his role on City Council, he works as the Manager of Real Estate & Public Affairs at MPW Industrial Services, managing more than 80 properties across the U.S. and Canada. Whether in the council chambers or the workplace, Spencer brings a results-driven mindset, a collaborative spirit, and a strong sense of responsibility to every role he takes on.

Deeply rooted in the values of service and community, Spencer has been active in numerous local organizations. He serves as President of the Licking County Courthouse Lighting Committee—an effort especially meaningful to him as he follows the legacy of his late father, Jay Barker. Spencer has held leadership roles with the Newark-Heath Rotary Club, Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, Young Leaders of Licking County, and Second Presbyterian Church. With a track record of getting things done and a heart for public service, Spencer is committed to building a stronger, more connected Newark for generations to come.
